Home Sweet Home

We're back from Hawaii!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 days on Oahu last week.  After the chaos of Tom's promotion & a busy few months for my work, a vacation was just what we needed to relax before this whirlwind of a summer ahead of us.  Eating dinner one night in Honolulu, we sat across the table from each other and reminisced of all the places we've been together the last 5 years, counting states & countries we've seen, and how fun each trip had been.  There we realized how fortunate we are to be able to have these experiences, especially with each other.
(Even if he does wear those horrible Costco shirts!)

This was the view that got us talking about the things we're grateful for...not a bad dinner backdrop, eh?

Here are a few more shots for your viewing pleasure....
We loved how most the island is so lush and green.

Watching the sunrise on Kailua Beach, this was Tom's favorite beach.  The water is pretty clear, but there's nothing blocking the waves, so it's more fun to play in than the calmer waters.  (Tom said this dress is my version of a Costco shirt...)

We hiked up to the Pillboxes that overlook Kailua.  The pillboxes were bunkers used in WWII to keep watch on the water for possible attacks.  You can see for miles once at the top.  The beach on the right is called Lanikai, which was my favorite place on the entire island.  Calm water, not too deep, with extremely fine sand that shimmered....it was so dreamy.  Best part was swimming with the turtles who frequent the beach!  They got about 6' away from us the first day we were swimming.

Now we're ready to explore the other islands, maybe Maui next!

Maui is where we go and are talking about going in Feb. Maybe a good time to think about visiting. :)
