Tom and I decided to make picture frames for our entry way last weekend. I thought it would be a good way to save money, but I'm pretty sure it ended up being more expensive, either way it was fun. We started with printing off a few pictures at Costco from our family pictures we took last summer. The prints are inexpensive so we went with 11x14's. Then found the right size glass for the pictures. That's was actually the $$$ part, I should have shopped around for old frames at goodwill, but we were lazy so we went to Michaels and bought glass. Ouch. Then we went to Tom's work and dug through the scrap moulding pieces. (Luckily he is the sales manager of a moulding plant, so we walked right in and the scrap piles are heaping bins of goodies for crafters!)
Tom was my handy man for the day....he used his miter saw and cut all the necessary pieces for the frames. After they were glued we stained them dark to match our piano and dining room table.
This was the first finished frame. We did three of the same, but only hung two up on one wall. I finally got to use my Cricut for something fun too. We found a cute quote and cut out the vinyl letters in brown and stuck them to the wall! Big thanks to Tom for hanging the frames and sticking on the letters! I love our entryway!
And how appropriate is the quote!? "Home is a place where you come in out of the rain" literally since it's always raining in Washington!
