Vacation

The weekend was great! My trip ended up being PERFECT timing! I got a text from David Thursday saying Steph was in labor. She had the twins a little after 6:00 pm that day in the Caldwell hospital. Kenzington Dawn was a little over 5 lbs and Rylee Ann was barely over 3 lbs. I flew into Idaho Falls Friday afternoon and we drove over to Caldwell Saturday morning to see the two new additions to our family! Holding Rylee was insane! You know when you are holding a new baby they seem small, but you can feel their body? Well with Rylee being so small, you couldn't feel anything when she was wrapped in her blanket. Her adorable little head would fit in my cupped hand. Kenzington wasn't much more, but you could at least feel her body a little bit. Everything on both of them is just teeny tiny! Their hands and feet are absolutely adorable. I can't even explain. I have never held babies that small before! I was more than double Rylee's size when I was born! They are beautiful of course and it was so fun to see the new parents.

I slept at Critter & Ellory's house while in town which was great. Little ones are so fun to have sleepovers with. I can't tell you how many times I woke up to a grinning kid at Julies house (or with fingers in my nose, eyes, or mouth while trying to sleep). We pulled out Ellory's mattress and had a big sleepover. Critter on the couch with El & me on the floor. The first morning she was looking at me like, "Hey, you aren't usually here when I wake up." to the next morning, "Hey! You are here again!" One morning she climbed over to me and laid her head on my arm for a few minutes. She kept turning around and smiling at me. It was wonderful.

Later on that morning her mom was giving her a bath and I here her yell, "Ellory you better stop or you are going to fall down!!!" and I turned around to a little naked 1 year old running towards me with her arms out ready for a hug! Unfortunately her mother was right, about 10" before she made it to me, she slipped on her wet feet and landed on her head and back. She was just fine after big ol crocodile tears and a few big hugs. She was so shy when I first got to town, so it was amazing that she warmed up so fast! I will tell you though, she LOVES Julie! Everytime she sees her she runs up to her and it's like she wants to talk to her so bad. I love it! Anyway, she cried when I left and she ran after me twice and I will have you know that is one of the hardest things to deal with. I cried at the airport when I remembered the sad goodbye! I'm going to miss her so much!!!

She crawled up to her moms side and fell right asleep...if you look close enough you can see the cookie she didn't quite finish before falling asleep. That girl loves her treats!

Turn your volume down down down if you watch this. There are 3 Perez girls laughing hysterically which means you will most likely blow your speakers if the volume is on...lets be honest, I may be the loudest, but the other two aren't that far behind me when it comes to volume!! Anyway, the video is of Julie letting Ellory taste the caramel dip she made. First Ellory just put her fingers in, and by the time she was done she was going full force with entire fistfuls of caramel. She was covered with it!

Another fun thing I did in IF was record two songs with my dad. The band recorded Roadhouse Blues by the Doors last week for me so I could sing along. I found out recording is so different from 1-singing in the car & 2-karaoke! There is no voice to sing along with and no indication on a screen of when to start singing. I did ok on Roadhouse blues...there is a part in the middle that I have a really hard time with even when it comes on the radio because he doesn't say words he says things like "beepa concho too bop a loo pop....etc." and I just couldn't do it. Finally I got one that was just ok and when my dad was cutting all the different versions and piecing them together on his little machine I heard him say, "Oh crap!!!" apparently he cut the wrong one, so the uber messed up one is on the recording. At least it's just for fun and i THOUGHT no one was going to hear it. He then sends me an email of peoples responses from when he sent out the mass email of my recording!!!! I want to do it again for sure, since now I know what I need to practice...I can't get away with just singing along, I actually have to memorize the tone and parts!

We also recorded KT Tunstalls Big Black Horse & a Cherry Tree. That one was so fun!! We did it there with Eric, Tony, Josh, Dad & Julie. They played all the parts and learned them on the spot, we recorded and then Julie and I stayed late with my dad and finished up the vocals. Julie helped me out with the Woohoos and the harmony on the No Nos (that makes sense if you know the song) and then we switched up the end because my voice doesn't go as high as hers. Julie is the only reason we finished the song because she sounds good at any octave!! It was a blast though. If you want to hear them, let me know and I will send them over! My dad loves to record, so if you ever want to, just let him know and he will have the band learn a song and get it all set up for the lyrics!
