Ay Arriba!

In less than a week we will be in Mexico!

The real excitement set in this morning when I got my passport in the mail. A few weeks ago Tom came home and said that Mike and Heidi had invited us to Mexico. We had to talk about it since I have been unemployed since November. I let Tom make the final decision and he said yes! I applied for a passport as soon as I knew it was a for sure go. I've been holding back packing until now.

So I made a playlist in preparation for the trip...of course most of it is TexMex which my dad filled me in is NOT Mexican music. It's tejano music, and pretty much it's not the same as real Mexican music. The only Mexi music I listen to is Los Lobos and Texas Tornados...so how was I supposed to know it wasn't the real stuff? As far as I'm concerned, they have better guitar work anyway. :)

Funny story. As you all know, my dad is in a Classic Rock band called "The 40-something Band" which they should probably change to the 50-something...Ha just kidding! Anyway, I'm pretty proud of my dad, he has always been in bands...loves music...taught me to love music.

So when I first met Tom and we were talking about our lives I mentioned that my dad was in a band. I apparently didn't elaborate enough because about 3 month later we went to Idaho Falls to listen to them play an acoustic set for someones family reunion.

Later I found out that he was very surprised with the music because since I hadn't gone into more detail about the band he thought my dad played in a MARIACHI band! He had imagined sombrero, banjo and all!

You can just imagine his total dread driving all the way to Idaho Falls thinking he was going to have to spend his Saturday listening to Mexican music with my entire family! Poor Guy! We got a pretty good laugh out of it though.

You are such a lucky girl! I am so jealous that you get to go to Mexico! I watch Gossip Girl and it is so addicting, but also a little embarrassing that I am a 24 year old mother of two watching a teenage show! So it makes feel better that you watch it too!

Too Funny! A Mariachi Band???!!! too funny! Oh m y gosh. Well, it's fun having our number one being my daughter. She is the best and it's fun to get her to sing with us because she has a great voice and she is beautiful too.
Have fun in Mexico. By the way, the Mexicans could stand some more Tex-Mex in their diet of finer listening. ha ha ha
