Our computer has been down the last week due to my own inability to pay attention to detail. I dropped it on the cord which twisted up inside and we had to order a new one. By the way, pricing for an HP laptop computer cord replacement is absolutely ridiculous. We bought it off Ebay...that should make my dad proud!!
I found a place of employment finally! We are postponing all paperwork and start date until after the holidays.
When I told them the price I was previously making he almost fell out of his chair with a response of, "Well, I assumed with your age and since you were working for a large corporation that your salary was in the mid $20's, so we will have to go over this with the board and go in a different direction."
Mid $20's?? That's what I made right out of high school! They came up with an offer that met the salary I like, but without the commission structure I'm used to, but we are setting up an incentive plan. So...if I sell the amount of cabinets or more that is listed in my business plan, I will get a certain percentage of dollars from the gross profit.
The scariest part about the job is there in NO job security at all. If I don't make my goals or show any improvement, I get fired. I'm going to have to work a lot harder, but I guess it's about time. So after the new year...no updating my blog at work, no more solitaire, no more 2 hour lunches just to make the day go by. I will actually be WORKING..what a concept, eh? I'm really excited too, I'm ready to start designing and the best part is that I will be selling MEDALLION, my favorite cabinet line!!!
We are headed to Idaho Falls next week for Christmas. It's a short trip, but will be fun to see everyone. We are going to Tony & Julies Christmas morning around 6:30 a.m. to open presents with their family. It's a lot more fun to see children open presents instead of adults. Hopefully we will have a little time to see friends while we are up there, but who knows at this point in time.
There is not a whole lot going on besides finishing unpacking...it's a slow go because every morning The Office calls my name instead of the garage where all the boxes are remaining. I've memorized the first three seasons. Tom thinks I watch it so much because I don't have enough human interaction during the day, so The Office has helped in that area. That may be true, but the more I watch the seasons, the funnier they get!
Tom is still loving his new job...he comes home every day exhausted, but full of stories about what he did during the day. He went to Denver last week to meet with customers. He should be going to Canada within the next couple weeks to meet with more customers. He is keeping busy and catching on to the systems in place up here. Unfortunately it's a down market so he has to work extremely hard to make sales, but lucky for him he's personable and confident, so it hasn't been too hard yet. Soon I will post pictures, but first I need to locate the camera.
