We have the weirdest dogs...

Does Champ think he is human? He seriously managed to drink water out of the orange cup off the coffee table. He had it tipped at the perfect angle and drank the water until he couldn't get more out, he then tipped the cup completely over and lapped the remaining water off the table. It's not that he doesn't get enough water, he apparently prefers to drink it out of cups, and all this time I have been putting it in a bowl. My bad.

Holly apparently thinks she is a baby. This is partly my fault, she never wants to cuddle so when she decides it's time, I can't turn her down. This particular time I got to hold her like a baby for 15 minutes and I laughed the entire time. She didn't move at all, just stayed in the same position while I rocked her back and forth. What kind of dog likes to be held in such a vulnerable position? Only our weird little dog.
We're Alive!
Last night we attempted driving to Seattle for the night. The Metal Boys (80's butt-rock cover band) were supposed to be playing a show and we wanted to see it. It ended up being canceled probably due to weather. It has been snowing for days up here and last night was supposed to be a really bad storm. Of course we figured we were invincible and it wouldn't matter, so we started the drive down south. Roads were TERRIBLE and we made it to the outlets which are about 1 hour south of Bellingham. We pulled over to do a little shopping only to find most of the stores closed due to "severe weather."
Side note- the weather is not that bad, if you are used to it every year for months on end. But when you live in a town where it hasn't snowed this bad since 1996 and the last time they remember there even being a drop of snow was November 2006 which lasted for 3 days, it's pretty bad. The worst part is the lack of treatment on the roads, no salt, no gravel, no plows.
Anyway, we decided the weather was too bad to risk driving the rest of the way that night just for a couple drinks and to go to sleep. So we turned around and headed back to Bellingham. Thank goodness it was snowing so hard because it covered up the icy roads and made it easier to drive. We put my car in 4 wheel drive the entire time we were on the freeway because they were covered. I don't think we exceeded 40 mph! So we were about 20 miles from Bellingham and ice had frozen to the windshield wipers, so Tom stuck his hand out the window and tried flicking the wiper blade to get the ice to break off. The wiper blade broke off! Luckily we had paper towels in the car. Tom used them to wipe off a small part of the windshield every 2 minutes so he could see to get us home. We had the heat blasted to hopefully melt the snow off the windshield. We finally got home after almost 2 hours!

That is nuts! I remember when we got a bad storm in Seattle--it was an anomaly to have a snow-covered backyard and we loved it! And don't worry, my cats (and my Grandma's cat too) all preferred water NOT from the bowl--either from cup or running faucet. Animals--who do they think they are, really???

Have safe travels if you guys are venturing out--on the road or good luck and hope the airport doesn't cancel your flights if you are flying. Crazy weather!
