Updates on Bellingham

I don't know if it's just the season, or if it's like this all year round, but Bellingham is the most beautiful place I have ever been to! My family is laughing right now because my traveling has consisted of Idaho, Utah, California, Nevada, Oregon & Washington (last two, thanks to Tom) and that's it. I don't think I have been anywhere else ever, so I'm very used to mountains, sage brush, brown hills, snow, etc. Bellingham is completely different, there are trees EVERYWHERE! I was driving around town doing house shopping while Tom was at work and I almost ran off the road about 8 times. One side of town is full of trees that line all the roads and property, so I would stare at those in total amazement of the beauty, then the other side of town there is water with boats, docks, and ferries. That is a site that I'm definitely not used to seeing. I love the way the air smells, clean and fresh. It FINALLY rained while we were there. Every time we go to Seattle the sun shines. I always tell Tom I think the rain is a myth, but it poured on Thursday. Tom remembered my rain jacket that I forgot which was a good thing. I still wore flip flops, I'm definitely going to be shoe shopping in the near future. By the way, I LOVE the rain!!! It smells good, it feels good, it washes the car, what more could you ask for? I am in love with this gorgeous little city of Bellingham, WA.

We are still on the hunt for a house, thought we found one, but it fell through. We are searching online and at least we got a good feel (and a lot of recommendations) about which areas to live in. We called one of our backups today and hopefully we hear back from them soon.

As for work, Tom is going to love his new job. There is a lot of excitement and thinking involved which will keep him entertained all day long. The crew is great, not as good as M&M SLC (I'm not sucking up, we seriously love everyone who works in Salt Lake). We had a goodbye receptionist/Tom's here lunch with everyone in the office. They are funny and easy going. I told Tom when we left that it feels very similar to the "Franklin Family" as we used to call it when I worked at Franklin Building Supply. Everyone seems to mesh well and they are all happy people.
As for my job, I gave my notice this morning, YAY!!!! I was thinking worse case scenario would be for them to actually make me work for the next two weeks. I couldn't wait to talk to Darin, unfortunately someone from work had already told my boss that I was leaving.

This is the funniest part, the excuse was, "Steve (boss) saw it on your myspace account." First of all, I don't have myspace. Second of all, would my boss actually be trying to look up one of 100+ employees on myspace? GET REAL! The only thing I can think of is my coworker saw my blog (that I didn't give them the address to) was confused that it was a blog and not my space, he then told Steve, my boss and then tried to cover it up. There is no way that Steve could have known my blog address, nor if he knew it would he keep up with it on a daily basis, can I say I love when people lie?? Guess what, I don't have to deal with it anymore! That may be the best thing of all! We decided that today was as good as any to leave Stock forever. We are really slow, and if I'm leaving anyway, there is no reason to start new jobs just to hand them off. I happily said my goodbyes and took off as fast as I could. As for a new job, I will be looking when we move and I've promised myself that I'm going to take a little bit of time and evaluate any position offered to me to make sure it is the right one.

Oh Sweetie, your Pops is happy for you and sad at the same time. I've never had my little girl be moving so far away!!! :( But, it sounds like your going to enjoy your new found home. I hope all works out well. As for Stock, they were as good to you as a Corporation of that size can be. Be grateful for the opportunity you had there. You'll find that it was a good experience later. Just like i did after I left Wonder Bread years ago!! wink wink

Beau will be jealous. HE would move me to Washington in a heartbeat if I would let him. HE loves it there and always talks about how gorgeous it is! Good luck in house hunting, etc.
