Happy Birthday to Me!

September 3rd came and went without a phone call from my family. I woke up in the morning all alone because Tom was in Boise for work. He was the first to call, then his parents and little sister. All day I had my phone on my desk waiting for my family to call....nothing....
I called my dad after work and asked him why no one had called me. His response was, "I sent you an email didn't I?" That made me even more mad and sad that I couldn't cope with getting older and having people not care.
It turned out that they were all supposed to not call me on my birthday because Tom had planned a weekend with the family as a surprise to me. They were all going to Stephanies cabin for the weekend and Tom thought it would be fun to take me up there to spend time with everyone. I found out what was going on when we needed to find a place for the dogs. We put Champ and Holly in a kennel and packed the puppies in the car.
We got there Friday afternoon and had a little birthday party for me. The girls had made a sign and taped it in the window that said, "Happy Birthday Muffin" and Julie made two delicious cakes. My parents gave me money...Jules made me a recipe book with recipes easy enough for me to figure out...and Tom gave me earrings and a necklace. He picked them out all on his own and they are beautiful. I have since taken back what I said about the whole engagement ring deal. (long story short...Tom thinks the guy should pick out the ring so it's a surprise...blah blah...you don't say yes to the ring you say yes to the relationship...So after seeing his first jewlery purchase I will let him pick out more.)
We spent Friday-Sunday at the cabin playing games and eating food. We did spend a lot of Saturday in Yellowstone which was a lot of fun. Tom had such a good time, he hadn't been there since he was a child. His favorite part was seeing and hearing a huge elk bugle. Everyone else was freezing and sitting inside the car and Tom was standing outside with a smile from ear to ear.
Huge herd of buffalo behind us. My mom was too scared
to go across the road because she didn't want them to charge.
I tried convincing her she just needed to run faster
than Dad to be safe, but she wasn't buying it.

Old Faithful

The Buffalo herd again...there were tons of them.

Little ladies looking for a big strong elk...tis the season.

The poor puppies were stuck in one crate for the
entire drive. They were sleeping in this picture,
but part of the time they would sit up and howl
for freedom!
Anywho...I had a great birthday. Thank you Tom for taking me to see my family (and for my bling!) and thank you Julie for throwing a little family party for me and thank you Steph for marrying Dave. Happy Anniversary to you both!
