A couple weekends ago Tom and I went to Boise. We had Stephanie, our dog sitter, take care of the dogs while we were gone. She called us when we got back to let us know Holly didn't eat hardly anything while we were gone. She was pretty worried about her knowing that we thought Holly was prego. She is under the impression that Holly has tape worm. So I looked up all the symptoms and the only one that even matched was the appetite. After we got home, she was eating fine too.
Well I'm paranoid now about the tape worm deal and I'm always looking for symptoms. So one of the signs to look for is larvae on their stool. So everytime Holly goes to the bathroom, I get down close to it and look for little white bugs. I haven't seen anything yet and it's been two weeks. Well last night we were outside letting the dogs run around in the yard and I noticed something white on her butt. (Don't ask why I was looking...it's become a habit I guess since I don't want her to get tape worm!) I needed to look closer, but she is a dog, so she thought I was playing when I got on the ground next to her. I had to stand up and trap her body between my legs so her head was sticking out the back of my legs. Then I had to lift her legs up. Remember doing the wheelbarrel in grade school where someone holds your legs and you walk on your hands? That's what I was doing to Holly. I then had to lift up her tail to see her butt, of course the white thing was gone, so I let her down and she ran away from me as fast as possible and kept her tail wrapped under her whenever she was around me. I was so embarrassed! But really, what would you do if you thought your dog had tape worm!!!??
