the adventures of tom & marissa: ***Winger***

Ok so you may know the band, Winger, from their one hit wonder song called "Seventeen". Well Tom and I are on an 80's kick...we saw Night Ranger (one hit wonder...Sister Christian) a couple weekends ago. Monday we saw Winger and in a couple months we are going to Styx.

I was so surprised with this band last night though. I went into it thinking, "ok, I will do some jumping around, I will sing along to Seventeen, blah blah." It turns out that I was right, Seventeen was the only song I knew all the words to, but they are surprisingly a great band. Vocals and guitar were their strongest areas, they played a lot of new stuff off Kip Wingers (singer) solo album that I actually downloaded off itunes when I got home. It was a great concert and I had tons of fun...the best part though....

After the concert we were walking outside and their tour bus was right next to the entrance. I spotted the guitarist trying to get in. He couldn't remember the code and eventually set the alarm off. I was standing about 3 feet away from him just watching him try at the door. He turned around and looked at the crowd that was right behind me and said, "our bus is **** retarded!" He would go in and out typing in the code to get the alarm to turn off. After about 5 minutes Kip Winger came outside and entered the code once, walked back inside the bus, stuck his arm out in a rock symbol, and said "I **** Rock!" Then the guitarist started walking in, he turned around and said, "That's why it's called Winger, not Beach!" and the entire crowd busted up laughing. That was my exciting story...with a slight stretch I probably could have touched them...for some reason "touching a rock star" is a great feat!

Now I have to mention that aside from the guitar solo, I stared at Kip Winger. He is a gorgeous man! I'm not even kidding, he has bright white teeth, sparkle in his eyes, great voice, awesome hair, you know...everything you want...to look at! :) I talked about him so much that Tom said, "ok now would be a good time to tell me how much you love me." I was like oh yeah, sorry babe! But now, Kip Winger is on my list!!! Whoa! That's all I have to say! I was actually contemplating if I would go to jail or just get a restraining order if I jumped over the railing and into the bus. Ha, I'm kidding.

Reb Beach: One of the greatest guitarist I have seen live! I was so amazed at the talent of this 'One Hit Wonder' band. His expressions alone were worth the $20, he plays with so much emotion and you could tell by the huge smile that he was having a blast! I don't remember a thing that happened around me because I was so engrossed in his amazing solo. Did I mention...I love listening to the guitar...especially electric!
