The Weekend

Congrats Samralee & Michael!
This weekend Michael proposed to Tom's little sister, Samralee! They have been dating for like 9+ years and are now engaged to be married! She is going to be an absolutely gorgeous bride!
***Superbowl Sunday***
Ok, so as you know, I'm not an avid NFL fan, but when it comes to the Superbowl you have to watch it, right? Steelers vs Cardinals, who to chose? If I were to follow a team, it wouldn't be either of them, so for me there was no emotional attachment. I picked the Steelers to win, after telling Tom I was lectured for about 30 minutes about how it wasn't right to want them to win. That made it more fun for me to pick them as "my team" for the game.

Happy Birthday Papa Soran!

January 31st was Papa Soran's 77th birthday. They have 9 children, 33 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild on the way! 8 of their kids and most their families were able to make it to the birthday party...it was definitely a full house. I had a lot of fun meeting everyone. Tom's uncle puts together a calendar every year for his brothers, sisters and their kids. So I recognized a lot of the family from their pictures on the calendar.

People kept asking me, "Are you overwhelmed yet?" and I would laugh and say no. Little do they know I've had years of training with a huge family. Thank you Simpson family! Julie (my sister in law) used to take us over to her grandparents house on Sundays. They have a huge family and do a get-together every Sunday for whoever wants to come. After they got married, I even started going over there on my own! But depending on the Sunday, there were anywhere from 15 people to 50 or more (who really knows)! Always a lot of chaos, food, noise, love and laughter. If not for the Simpsons, I may have been a little freaked out by all the people!

Tom's grandpa made all of his grandchildren these special wooden boxes. He carved their names on the top and put a lock on them. His grandmother said it took her about an hour to cover the interior of each box with felt. What a great guy to spend so much time making gifts for each of his grandchildren! Nana (Tom's grandma) said to me, "Now you can't look in the box, this is for all Tom's secret treasures!" So I promised her I wouldn't ever look in it.

I picked Steelers too, for the same reason....just to antagonize my husband rooting for the Cardinals.

I'm just anti Matt Leinhart anything....even if he didn't play.

But you know how I feel about Tom Brady....wish it was him this year.....but I guess you can't fantasize with every superbowl..
