My baby is 6 months old!

Time has flown by the last six months, it's hard to believe Thomas has been with us for half a year already.  Every day is better than the last.  Thomas is the happiest baby I've ever met, which I'm sure he gets from his dad who shares the same love for life & all things positive.  Thomas is aching to be mobile, he's such a busy body & spends most his time on the floor trying to scoot into a crawling position, which I'm sure he'll master any day now.  Until then, I'm trying to squeeze in as much cuddling & holding as I can get my hands on.

We've been taking monthly pictures, which so far have been fairly easy, until now.  This series of shots was a matter of seconds.  Playing with toys, very quick (fuzzy pic) smile, then ripping the sticker off & trying to eat it…

We're so in love with this boy.

Our New Arrival: Thomas Christopher Soran IV

Our lives were forever changed on August 7, 2013 at 8:34 a.m. when our beautiful baby boy was born.  We found out a couple weeks prior to delivery that Baby Soran was breech.  He had been head down, but ended up flipping right side up & decided to make his new home directly in my ribs on the right side, which meant many sleepless nights & a lot of constant pain.

After going over our options, we chose to schedule a c-section at 39 weeks.  We spent the night before in a whirlwind of emotions.  All of a sudden all this anticipation we'd built up for 9 months turned into downright fear knowing we would be parents in less than 12 hours.

I barely slept that night, and ended up waking around 4:00 to get ready before we went into the hospital.  We marched into the child birth center at 5:50.  Not long later they had us back in the delivery room prepping for the surgery.

The surgery took about 30 minutes.  Our doctors & staff were AMAZING & made the whole experience memorable.  One of my favorites parts was when the doctor asked me which Pandora station I wanted to listen to.  I was taken by surprise, but very thankful for the distraction.  I chose Classic Rock & that set the mood for the whole room.  Everyone was in a great mood, we spent most the time talking and laughing about the most random topics.  I hadn't even realized we were as far into the procedure as we were until the doc said, "Alright, if you don't want him to be born to this song, say so & we'll change it."  The song playing was Another One Bites the Dust, thinking that wasn't the most appropriate song choice, I asked him to hit next.  The next song was Welcome to the Jungle by Guns & Roses, which I thought was perfect!  At 8:34 a.m. Thomas was born!  He came out butt first, all 8 lbs 6 oz of adorableness!

(Here I am before all the surgery prep began.)

(Tom & me all dressed up for the operating room.  It was go-time at this point!)

24 Weeks & Counting...

Time has flown by the last couple months, I can't believe we're already at 24 weeks!  Second trimester has been a breeze so far.  I held out buying maternity clothes for a really long time.  I wasn't interested in the weird belly deal, plus the pockets are always so high on the jeans.  Last month I finally broke down and bought a pair...and I LOVE them!  I prefer the full belly over the band because it's so comfortable.  I feel like I'm wearing sweats at work, they're the best.  I've made quite a few purchases since.

Cravings:
* Barbecue sauce on anything & everything
* Ribs (I'm not a meat eater, so this is strange!)
* Baby Carrots

So far I L-O-V-E:
* Feeling the baby move & kick- it's the greatest feeling ever.
I don't think anyone could have explained how awesome it would be.
* Shopping for our little guy!  I'm obsessed with buying clothes for him.

So far I could live without:
* Waking up at odd hours of the morning feeling wide awake, I haven't slept past 4:30 in months.
* Swollen feet...this has become a new symptom over the last week, but it's getting really old.  My toes look like lil' smokies at the end of the day!

Weird things I do:
* Sing to the baby...I'm trying to teach him good music at an early age, so we listen to a lot of classic rock.  Although, he does seem to kick every time Pitbull & Christina are on the radio.
* This one is slightly embarrassing, but I totally bought a stethoscope online, and I listen to his heartbeat every single day after work.  It's so hard to hear, but I can usually find it if I lay flat on my back.  I look forward to it every day.
* If I haven't felt him move very much during the day, I drink caffeine just to feel him!  I know it's awful, but I love when he's kicking and rolling, and that usually gets him going.

Our nightly ritual.

In other news, we sold our house!  The new house is coming along really well.  They're working on the interior finishes at this point, and I can't wait to start decorating!  We've been so fortunate to sell our house in this market, and make a profit to boot!  Here are a few pictures of the progress, I can't wait to post more once we've moved in.  Only a couple months to go!

Dining room opens up to the living room with 17' ceilings & an adorable landing above!

I almost forgot...we went on our first "Babymoon" to Jamaica!  Nothing beats sand and calm blue water when it's pouring rain & grey at home.

2013...the year of changes!

Tom & I purchased our first house in the summer of 2010.  As we're getting ready to expand our little family, we realized it's time to upgrade.  After some searching, we found the perfect house that's only 5 minutes away from our current one!  Now our goal is to sell our first home and get moved into the new one before the summer is over.  We're keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for a reasonable offer soon!

Curious as to why we are wanting to be in the new house before the end of summer?  You can probably put 2-and-2 together.

dun dun dun....

We're P-R-E-G-N-A-N-T!

(*Finally!!!!*)

Exactly 2-1/2 years from beginning the baby journey, we finally got the double pink line!

If you've been following my blog, you'll remember my last pregnancy post about being tired, fed up, and exhausted from the whole process.  Our ovulation test was negative, and I didn't even bother seeing my doctor that week because I couldn't handle another let down.  We have decided to take a break from the Clomid for awhile to give my body and mind some much needed rest.  Then, not even two weeks later, I got up one morning to get ready for work and looked at myself in the mirror right before jumping in the shower.  I noticed that first tell tell sign...my boobs looked a little bigger.  I knew there was no way I was pregnant, but decided there was no harm in taking a test.  I had a drawer full of them anyway, so what's wrong with wasting one for curiosity sake, right?  I took the test and then started prepping for my shower, not really thinking anything of it, about 5 minutes later I went back to it, almost forgetting it was there, and noticed a dark pink line and a faint pink line.  I'd done enough searching online to know that a line, whether it's faint or dark, is a line.  As my doctor put it, "You can't be just kind of pregnant!"  After I spent a few minutes going through a myriad of emotions, I decided to wake Tom up and give him the exciting news.  Tom is not a morning person, so he was a little out of it when I held up the stick.  Groggily he looked at me and said, "You're ovulating?"  I laughed and said, "Nope, try again!", and he immediately perked up with just as much excitement as I had.

Throughout the day, I took a few more tests, just to make sure my eyes hadn't deceived me.
Sure enough, they were consistent.  I was (am) definitely pregnant.

I'm now in week 18, which is quite possibly my favorite week so far.  Weeks 4 thru 14 were a nightmare of puking, sleeping, and constant hormone changes.  Around week 15 the nausea went away for the most part and I got a little bit of energy back.  Week 16 I felt the first 'flutter' while listening to LA Woman by the Doors, so the babe obviously takes after it's mothers good sense of music.  Week 18 I've been able to feel the baby a lot more, especially in the morning!  My new favorite thing is to lay in bed and try coaxing it to move for me.  I'm not sure if the coaxing works, or if it's just luck, but either way it's the most amazing feeling ever.  I already know I'll miss it when the baby is out.

Girl or Boy?

Welp, we don't know yet, but we'll find out very soon!  Friday is our big ultrasound.  I call it the big one because my doctor has been doing ultrasounds for us every 3 weeks since week 4, so we're getting used to seeing the little guy...or girl.  The 'big' one is the more detailed ultrasound that will go through all the checkpoints to make sure everything is ok so far.  We'll also find out the sex then too.  I've had a feeling it's a boy for awhile, but Tom thinks it's a girl, so we'll see in a few days!

Baby Soran estimated arrival- August 17, 2013!
