I have this ability to convince Tom I need things that I want.
One of the things I needed was a router. It only took a little convincing after the first confused look and sarcastic response, "Why do you have to buy a router?" We found the perfect one on Craigslist, picked it up later that day from a very chatty recently widowed woman, and started working on our project that evening.
That was in June.
I'm finally getting around to finishing the project I started in June....a wedding present for my sister-in-law who got married in, whelp, July. So much for "needing" the router for "all" the projects I was going to do, and all the money I would save being able to make gifts instead of buy them, and how personal they are going to be, etc etc etc. (These are all my standard selling points to Tom when I want something. Cricut, router, etc.)
Notice the Gandolfos sandwich wrapper behind the plaque. They make the most amazing egg salad sandwich, and they have the best customer service ever! They always remember Tom and me, they even remember my order every time. Love it!

Anyway, after we painted & glazed the board, I cut out black vinyl letters on the Cricut. The same Cricut I couldn't convince Tom to let me buy without enlisting the help of Julie, my lovely sister-in-law, who told Tom that I really needed it if I was going to be a successful crafter. ba ha. Gotta love family, especially when they are helping over embellish a want into a need.

We have a hideous old desk that has somehow made it into the office of each house we've lived in. Not only is it ugly, but surprisingly sturdy. My frugal husband won't let me dump it because it "still works", so my solution was spray paint. I figured a good layer of black paint would make it easier to hold onto it until I can find the perfect desk for the space.

So, after a few coats of paint, here it is! Looks way better than the original version, right? It also matches the bookshelves on either side!

You can even add to it and replace the knobs. We are doing that to our office desks to make them a little more modern looking.
Looks good Missy!
