Every year Tom goes above and beyond for my birthday. (Piano...big bling...)
This year was another great birthday thanks to Tom.
I knew we were spending a couple nights in Seattle for the Husky football game, but he had me pack clothes to last until Monday. I had no idea what he was planning, but assumed we would be staying an extra night in Seattle to celebrate. Friday night was Dana's 30th birthday celebration at Hula Hula, a karaoke bar in Seattle. Saturday was the Husky football game, which was great by the way, even though we lost. We checked out of our hotel Sunday morning much to my surprise, considering I thought we were staying another night.
(We took the LSU boys to Pikes to see the fish throwing and be touristy for a couple hours)

(Tom even grilled "mud bugs" for the Louisiana boys...I'm not so sure they liked it)

(Boys singing the Husky fight song)

We drove to Bellingham and straight to a place called The Chrysalis. I still wasn't sure what the place was and the only sign I could see said, "Fino Wine Bar" and I thought to myself, "Why wouldn't he just tell me we were going here? And why didn't he tell me so I could dress appropriately!" But we walked inside while Tom was grinning ear to ear because he had duped me, and walked up to the desk. The lady knew it was all a surprise and helped me out by giving me a description of what was going to happen and what I needed to do. I figured out while she was talking that I was going in for a day of SPA TREATMENT!

The spa was amazing to say the least. I wandered around in a robe and slippers, drinking tea, reading gossip magazines, listening to tranquil music, getting rubbed down, for 4 hours. Ah...bliss. The full body massage was just what I needed, especially after tailgating for 7 hours the day before! My favorite part was the mani/pedi because the girl, Gabby, was just adorable. She had been married for 3 weeks and was still in her own little honeymoon bliss, we chatted the whole time about love, life, and anything else that came to mind. Physically and emotionally just what the doctor called for!

Around hour 3 I was starting to feel bad for Tom, thinking, "I wonder if he is still in the lobby, poor guy." When I finally finished up, I went out to find him all showered and dressed up! We sat down as I told him all about my spa treatment and then I said, "Why did you go home and shower?" and he said, "I showered here!" I was still confused by the whole thing, but finally when he handed me my room key, I figured it out. He told me to go upstairs and get ready for the evening. When I walked into the room, I found a clean pair of nice clothes, shoes, and all of my hair and makeup stuff. The room was beautiful and still went along with the spa theme (tranquil...the best word to describe the entire day). I took my time getting ready and called him when I was done. He picked me up and we went downstairs to the wine bar for dinner. I looked at the menu and freaked out a little bit. Steak, Duck, Seafood, more Seafood, and finally towards the bottom (there were only about 10 meals on the menu) Salmon. (For those who don't know, I can't stand meat unless it's small portions of chicken or Salmon.) The whole ambiance of the restaurant was romance, I loved it.

It was pouring rain all night, so when we went upstairs we opened the windows, sat on the window seat and cuddled up to my birthday cupcakes that Tom bought for me! Then Monday we got to shop ALL day in Seattle!

I've said it before, and I will say it again...I have the best boyfriend ever.
