Thanksgiving at The Sorans

The Sorans!
(Tom, Julie, Thomas, Stephen, Samralee, & Cecelia)

Tom and I spent Thanksgiving at his parents house in Tacoma this year...we drove down Thursday and got back home Monday afternoon. We relaxed all weekend and had a great time. Thursday Julie, Sam and I had plans to see Twilight and we roped Tom into going with us (ha ha...he knew he would have to see it some time in the near future). So I have to get my opinion about it out there and out of the way. Overall I liked the movie, I thought it was cheesy, but it was cute. However, I felt there were a lot of small things left out that needed to be in the movie to show the need Edward had for Bella. It almost came off as creepy weirdo stalker type because it went from him hating her to having her as his one and only in a day which is not realistic. Ok, I know vampires are definitely not realistic, but Stephanie Meyer did a much better job at explaining the struggle and need that Edward had to be around Bella. (Tom is looking at me right now and laughing and just said, "have you ever heard of the saying beating a dead horse?") So anyone who has read the story understands what I'm talking about.

As for the characters...I thought Charlie was PERFECT! Just how I had imagined, adorable and awkward. Bella was better than I had imagined in the books, she was definitely more attractive and not as annoying. I didn't like Rosalie before I saw the movie, but thought she was great after seeing it. And Edward...dun dun dun...SO DISAPPOINTED!! Seriously, he was more awkward than Bella, his hair always looked retarded and he has a flat face. And what was with the disco ball skin in the sunlight? Wasn't it supposed to be more like marble or diamonds....not glitter?!! By the way, anyone who has been to Washington and Oregon knows that the trees in Oregon are nothing compared to Washington trees. I'm biased now that I live here, but Oregon is gross and it really should have been filmed in Forks where the story took place. (Damn those Oregonians giving tax incentives to the movie producers!)

Ok, back to our weekend. Friday morning Julie (Tom's mom) woke me up at 4:40 so we could go shopping. We made it to Fred Meyer by 5 and the parking lot was full! There were tons of crazy shoppers and almost everything was 1/2 off! We went to the mall next and Julie got most of her Christmas shopping done. It was a lot of fun shopping and hanging out with Tom's mom. She is very similar to my mom with a little more sarcasm.

Saturday we celebrated Thanksgiving. Julie's sister came up from Oregon with her boyfriend and kids. Everyone brought company and we had a full house. There were 19 people and we helped Julie make food for everyone. Cecelia (Tom's littlest sister) brought her boyfriend Stevie over for the FIRST time. She had been threatening people for days before because everyone was leading her to believe they would give him a hard time when he showed up. Of course everyone was nice to him. Tom did take him outside for a little talk...she wasn't too excited about that. So after awhile we got curious and listened through the window to hear what they were talking about...you'll never guess...football. So I went out to rescue poor little Stevie. Thanksgiving was great, the food was delicious and it was fun to be around friends and family.

Ha ha, Oregon is definitely pretty, but you should see where I live. It puts anywhere else to shame...trees and water...I don't know how I ever lived without it! :)

Looks like you had fun with the Family there. I prefer sagebrush and dry canyons and an occasional tree. That way, I can see what I'm shooting at or calling in to shoot or to see what is chasing me!!! ha ha ha
