Bring On The Pounds

Yes! It's finally that season! You indulge while it's here and spend the next ten months trying to make the repercussions go away.

It starts with Halloween and all the delicious chocolate treats. Has anyone noticed that they are always on sale too? Next will be Thanksgiving, people start bringing cookies, brownies, caramel apples, etc into work to start stretching your stomach for the big feast near the end of the month. Finally there is Christmas and that's when it really starts to add up. You have sweet neighbors bringing homemade deliciousness to your doorstep, co-workers who make time to bake at night, and vendors who try to outdo one another with the best treat baskets ever! I hide the scale from now until New Years, because that's when you start the resolutions.

My all time favorite Holiday treat is egg nog. When we were little, my parents were not the wealthiest of couples (what I'm trying to say is that we were poor!) and my dad would buy a gallon of egg nog and make that sucker last forEVER. We could have 1/2 a glass at a time and you always had to mix it with milk. Yuck! I thought that was normal until I got older and realized that egg nog is even better when you pour it straight into a glass and straight into your mouth!
I wonder if my dad still mixes it with milk even though all the kids are out of the house? Ok and now for the best part...Tom doesn't like egg nog so when I buy it, it's all mine!!
Ok, now this is totally separate, but I have a funny story.
Holly is in heat again so we have to keep a close eye out for...you know. We keep Champ and Holly in their crates during the day and then we monitor them close in the house. Well we were eating dinner at our bar off the kitchen and I looked over to check on the dogs.
Well Champ had finally taken the bone from Holly and he was totally satisfied with his victory, so satisfied that he was able to completely ignore his female friend who had straddled his back and was going to town! I almost choked on my pasta while Tom yelled, "Holly! No!" (I'm laughing to the point of tears while Tom is freaking out at Holly's grossness.)
Champ totally just sat there while Holly humped his head. Tom put them in their crates because the last thing we want is for them to realize they have it backwards and opposite, no more puppies for us.
The best part...
I get over my laughing/crying episode and look at Tom. He has a disgusted look on his face and he says, "She is gross....(pause)....and I'm not petting him again until he gets a bath."
That sent me into hysterics again.

I almost cried tears of joy when I saw that Halloween edition of egg-nog... and does it seem uber expensive this year or what? Oh well, better buy more of it anyway :)

Yeah, yeah, yeah!!! So I mixed the eggnog down. I was able to get twice as much as you get now. And, with 4 mouths to feed and not a whole lot of money back in those days, you guys never knew the difference. See, you still like it now even "full blast"! ha ha ha.... by the way, I no longer cut my eggnog down. I too, drink it straight. tell Tom he is missing out!
