Timpanogos Cave

Saturday we decided to keep up our work out by going on a hike. We've had a couple people tell us about the Timpanogos Caves so we checked it out for ourselves...

This is "The Heart of Timpanogos" which is a famous landmark in the second cave. The heart is back lit and when the lights are down it glows. It weighs 2 tons!

This is a little pool of water in the first cave. It fills up to approx 5' during the year and the water has to be pumped out so the guests can still visit the cave. One of the cave rules is that you can't touch anything because the oils on your hands will cause damage to the growth of the formations. That was the hardest part for me, I'm like a little kid and I wanted to touch everything in the cave! (I kept my hands in my pocket most of the time.)

One of the views while walking up to the caves...

I never thought I was out of shape until the last week. Tom and I just started working out and dieting and he is definitely in better shape than me. He didn't complain once while walking up the mountain and he never had to take a break. I had to stop about 4-5 times to catch my breath! We got passed 3 different times and no one looked like they were struggling at all! I was so glad to get to the top and sit down for a few minutes. When we woke up this morning I got out of bed and my legs barely worked! They are so sore along with a lot of other parts of my body. Tom was making fun of me until he got up and realized that his legs hurt just as bad! It was a lot of fun and I want to do it again without the struggle, so maybe after I get used to the whole working out thing.

I love thaty you are exercising and doing these fun things. Besides, Tom has to get in shape to go to the Perez Hunting camp with Uncle Kevin and Gramps and all the buddies that come al;ong. He will have a blast but he has to climb a mountian daily! Sooo, keep it up. You are a great sport for going along. You always have been.
